An Overwhelmed Game Dev…

Hey,

I’ve just launched a second YouTube channel and I really wanted to highlight the struggles that went into creating the most recent devlog. Feelings of overwhelm, impostor syndrome and lack of motivation. I go into how I managed to overcome these issues on this occasion and talk through what that process was like. It’s different to my normal game dev videos but it’s quite a personal video and I hope you’ll enjoy it as you get to know me better.

Thanks,
Tom

Devlog: Plok Remake! – Adding New Levels & BEES!

Hey there! I’m back from a *cough* 5 month break and I’m back with a new video featuring new enemies, new platforming mechanics such as rotating platforms. I’ve finished of the garlen beach stage and also finished the new level ‘Sleepy Dale’. Check it out!

PLOK Remake: Secret Level, Helicopters & More

Squeezing out a new PLOK devlog! I’m remaking the SNES game PLOK in the Unity game engine. This video covers adding a new secret stage. I’ve cut the intro this time in an attempt to keep the pace up and maintain watch time. A lot of different editing experiments in this one. Main things covered in the video are helicopters, sea mine looking enemies, new art, pause screen updates, loading transitions and warps on the world map.

PLOK Remake: Creating a World Map

Hey everyone! New devlog today, c0ntinuing to polish the first world from PLOK. Cotton Island. Quite a delay since the last video due to various things and covid. This devlog goes through creating a world map (with unlockable levels and backtracking, similar to a super mario bros game), custom font, scoring system and tweaks to the boss when they take damage to be more in line with the original game. There’s a discord available in the videos description for more regular updates and feedback. Hope you enjoy!

Adding POWERUPS and ENEMIES

Finally, after 5 months I’ve uploaded a new devlog on the PLOK remake. A few weeks after the original I started procrastinating how to do powerups in a way that would allow me to add lots of them. Around a month ago I pushed through this and prepared some content for YouTube shorts and now I’m ready to present a dive into the next few levels. I hope you enjoy :)
