New Characters, New World – Plok Remake
Hey everyone! I’m back with a new devlog. This time we add all of Legacy Island to the game and 2 new characters! Please check it out :)
An Overwhelmed Game Dev…
Hey,
I’ve just launched a second YouTube channel and I really wanted to highlight the struggles that went into creating the most recent devlog. Feelings of overwhelm, impostor syndrome and lack of motivation. I go into how I managed to overcome these issues on this occasion and talk through what that process was like. It’s different to my normal game dev videos but it’s quite a personal video and I hope you’ll enjoy it as you get to know me better.
Thanks,
Tom

Making a WarioWare style game in 48 hours (Devlog)
I took part in the GMTK 2023 game jam. The theme was ‘Roles Reversed’. I made a WarioWare game where you setup the microgames to fail the computer/AI player. Here’s my devlog!
I Made A WarioWare Inspired Game in 48 Hours (GMTK 2023 Game Jam)
What do you mean you don’t know who Bario is? BarioWare: Swap is my entry to the Game Makers Toolkit Game Jam for 2023. The theme was Roles Reversed.

The examples given for this theme in its announcement video were;
- Angry Birds where you build the towers instead of knocking them down
- Pong where you play as the ball instead of the paddle
- Tetris where you control the board/environment instead of the falling blocks

I applied the theme to WarioWare which became WarioWare but you’re in control of the microgames, now while a WarioWare game already exists where you make games (WarioWare DIY) I decided to make a game that instead has you modifying and setting up existing microgames to maximise your chances of defeating the player (The AI).
An example from the game includes a microgame where the AI is trying to pop balloons within 5 seconds, in this example you get 5 seconds to spread out the balloons as much as possible so the AI can’t click them all fast enough.
You can play the game for free on itch.io, if you’re also taking place in the GMTK Game Jam, why not give BarioWare a rating while the submission page is still open? Thanks

Fragmented Space – Free on itch.io

I recently entered the Weekly Game Jam 210 with another developer. The theme was fragments, we created a game about knocking fragmented space debris into the correct collection zones. We had quite a lot of fun creating levels for this game as we were able to combine a lot of our systems in the later levels. It’s fully free on itch.io and can be played in browser or downloaded here. https://tompouchergames.itch.io/fragmented-space
You can watch the trailer here.
Hold The Throne – Trailer (Weekly Game Jam 150)
Hold The Throne was creating for the Weekly Game Jam 150 taking place on itch.io last week. The Theme was ‘You’re The Enemy’ I interpreted this as you being able to cause damage to the player, just as enemies can. I decided to go with the idea of your projectiles bouncing and wrapping screens. These projectiles could hit you in the back and damage you similar to an enemy. You can play this in the browser for free here.
Devil’s Diner – Weekly Game Jam 95
I decided to take part in a Game Jam for the first time in a while. This was my first solo Game Jam, in which I roughly spent a couple of days on. The personal gains for this Game Jam were to motivate me to create a game for the first time in a while by forcing myself to stick to a theme and see it through to the end. Devil’s Diner is a memory game about ordering food.
