Run Tapper – Next Update Plans

Hello all!

rt

It’s been a while, I’ve just finished my University course and I am awaiting results. In the meantime I’ve thought about additions and improvements to Run Tapper. For version 1.5.0 I intended to implement or question the additions of the following. If an item has (?) beside it then I am considering adding it as a feature and any comments as to whether it should be implemented are greatly appreciated.

  • Menu Music (?) – Annoying after long periods ie Level editor?
  • In Game Music (?) – Not sure if this would become jarring if music was added to level generation as the game is fast paced. Perhaps dependant on movement speed.
  • Revised Audio for surfaces
  • Performance enhancements – raise from locked 30fps to locked 60fps

Super Mario Maker as a toolset for future developers

Haunted House

My haunted house Mario Maker course.

As a student doing a computer games course I can’t help but wonder how the Games Industry is going to change over the years. When you think about what the first developers were like, you picture coders that went from creating games from scratch. In the present we have many different game engines to use, should we choose to do so. These programmers have such a vast knowledge and they came up with unique ideas and pushed a lot of genres forward. It’s becoming increasingly difficult though not impossible to come up with new genres and ideas.

Game Design: My Idea Generator

game-genre

So I came up with a system last year which I used for a period of time over summer. It allows you to come up with self created ideas which should be triggered by asking you simple questions. I managed to come up with a few ideas I might share one day using this system I made.

Run through the questions below using an existing genre to get some ideas.  Continue reading “Game Design: My Idea Generator”

Welcome to Tom Poucher Games!

Smash Bros WiiU

As you may know the site first started as tominbound.wordpress.com and featured some less professional content. However as I am nearing the end of my University Career as a Games Computing student I felt like it was time to update the site design, URL and also buy the domain name. So now whenever you want to stop by the site be sure to go to tompouchergames.com to find game development I have done, opinion pieces and reviews.

If you’re trying to get familiar with the new site the footer at the end of the page contains social media along with a trello page, linkedin and a behance portfolio, if you have any inquiries be sure to contact tompouchergames@gmail.com.

Update: Just figured out why https was crossed out and causing warning its because I added the menu buttons as links rather than directly through wordpress pages or posts. All fixed.
