Project/ Games Portfolio Update #1

A map I am creating In Source SDK, hoping to eventually show graphical fidelity in my design when finished.

I’m planning on taking a course in game design if I manage to achieve the grades necessary and sort out the incredibly boring UCAS stuff. Anyway one of the Universities I looked at asked for a Games porfolio, and so I’m planning on doing a couple of games In Gamemaker, possibly learning some flash and making games or mods, making some nice looking SDK maps, creating some chip tunes, possibly some maps for Left 4 Dead 2 and doing some concept art.

A Game I bought recently – Cube World (ALPHA)

The voxel based beauty that is Cube World.

Holy **** was I hyped for this game! Anyway after that extremely formal beginning I want to first of all tell you how I came to hear about Cube World. I found out about this game from a Youtuber called Inthelittlewood (also known as Martyn) a member of the Yogscast. The Alpha video showed me that the game featured amazing randomly generated worlds, tons of creatures, dungeons and weapon customization. The world also gets progressively more difficult the further you go from where you spawned and leveling is infinite. There’s also a couple of amazing methods of transport. Read on to find out more!

A Game I bought recently – PAYDAY 2

The birthday parties just weren’t earning them enough money.

Payday 2 is an interesting game, its based around heists and looking familiar to the film Point Break though I’m not sure if it’s supposed to do so. The game has you playing as either Hoxton, Dallas, Wolf or Chains. The main progression through the game is done through unlocking new weapons, armour, masks and progressing through the four different skill trees to help you take down enemies or increase your stealth…

Why I love…Timesplitters Future Perfect

This Vin Diesel Look-alike Cortez is Timesplitters main protagonist.

There is a reason why people cry out for Crytek (good choice of words) to make a new Timesplitters game, or a remake or a HD collection. It’s because Timesplitters was awesome, when I got round to play it on the original Xbox it was way into the next generation, and so a lot of the games didn’t really grab my attention, but Timesplitters did and I wasn’t expecting it to, hence my save file on it just being called “V”. A little bit of information on me (20/04/16)

Hey Everyone I’m Tom! I’m currently 19 years old and studying Games Computing at University. I created this blog to do reviews, game development and general discussion and now its got it’s own domain name things are really looking up. Despite doing games I actually had a massive interest in Art and especially History at A-Level and GCSE.

A few courses I almost did at University instead of games were Interior Design, Architecture, History and robotics and I almost ended up at De Montfort University instead of my current one. (Hey any readers from there!)

I currently run 3 gaming channels.

I’m originally from the Midlands in England and I am by far one of the whitest people you will ever meet, thanks Nintendo! I have several game projects running but they are usually background work for when I’m not busy developing Games and other work for University. I’m mainly English but I am partly West Indian though not a large amount.

If you want to hear anything else comment down below and I will reply and add it to the post for future readers.  You’ve probably realised there’s no picture because I want to be reasonably anonymous, however if you were to go through every 19 year old British male with brown hair and brown eyes I would be one of them.

Anyway in the future I hope to give you an insight into exactly what’s going on in my life, whether it ends up in the form of a rant(probably) or just a story we’l have to see. Cya soon!
