Revisit: “WHAT SHOULD NINTENDO DO?”

Gaming, Personal, Review

A while ago (18th September 2013) I wrote an article called “What Should Nintendo Do?”. In the article I went over a few ideas that I thought personally thought could help improve and shape the company. I’ve decided to review what I said and see which Nintendo achieved.

I feel like I need to get an article out!

Hey everyone it’s Tom! So I haven’t worked on the game in two days for various reasons. I’ve redesigned this site, and you may see the header is a level I’m working on, I’ve been recording with another Youtuber which you can watch here. Which kind of messes up my timings working with someone else. However the game is still going to have content added.

Again if anyone wants to do any collaborations particularly people from the UK check out my contact post. I guess I will talk a little bit about…whatever.

Cloudberry Kingdom Review (WiiU)

Gaming, Review

So yes, this Christmas I was lucky enough to unbox a Nintendo WiiU. It’s been incredibly difficult to spend enough time with some games in order to give them a review score hence the lack of posts. Anyway Cloudberry Kingdom is a platformer which purposefully has a high difficulty ramp. At first glance the first few levels might seem easy and just look like a generic grab the coins and get to the exit type of game. Read on to find out why that’s not true.

Kid Icarus: Uprising (3DS) Review

Gaming, Review

Image

Kid Icarus finally got a revival, it’s move to 3D was drastically different and a lot of fun.

I never really got into the original Kid Icarus partly because I was awful at it, either way until Super Smash Bros Brawl I never would have imagined how much of an important IP the game was. Pit was one of my favorite characters to play as in Super Smash Bros Brawl. I was originally quite skeptical because I had never really ventured into the genre of on the rails shooters apart from Lylat Wars on the N64(which I loved), and also the line Pit said in the trailer “Sorry to keep you waiting!” IT’S BEEN 25 YEARS PIT! Anyway on with the review.

Super Meat Boy (PC) Review

Gaming, Review

SuperMeatBoy

I knew before reviewing this that I was going to review this game highly, as the second game I ever purchased on Steam the first being Plants Vs Zombies. Super Meat Boy is an incredibly polished, difficult game that is incredibly rewarding. I’m going to make a bold statement here as a bit of a Mario fanboy and say that the controls feel as slick if not slicker than a Mario game due to the split second reactions needed and the sense of control when in mid-air. Dungeon Defenders (PC) Review

Gaming, Review

Image

Dungeon Defenders is a Tower Defence style game which sees you protecting the Eternia Crystal.

Dungeon Defenders is a game I played last year over the Christmas holidays with my brother. I put tons of hours into the game (54 hours according to Steam), it’s quite addictive however after playing multiplayer so much Singleplayer doesn’t interest me. If you have friends or love action and tower defence games read on.

A Game I bought recently – Don’t Starve

Don’t step into the darkness, oh and don’t starve either!

Another great game which a Youtube channel basically got me to buy, which is why I get annoyed at companies such as Nintendo which started taking away the money people make off Let’s Plays because for some games it really helps market them, for example Don’t Starve for me. On with the Review…

A Game I bought recently – Cube World (ALPHA)

The voxel based beauty that is Cube World.

Holy **** was I hyped for this game! Anyway after that extremely formal beginning I want to first of all tell you how I came to hear about Cube World. I found out about this game from a Youtuber called Inthelittlewood (also known as Martyn) a member of the Yogscast. The Alpha video showed me that the game featured amazing randomly generated worlds, tons of creatures, dungeons and weapon customization. The world also gets progressively more difficult the further you go from where you spawned and leveling is infinite. There’s also a couple of amazing methods of transport. Read on to find out more!
